The Bayview Senior Center is again offering its series of guided sea kayak tours. This popular class is open to beginners and experienced kayakers alike. You will spend 30 min. on the beach in instruction and 2 hours on the water with high hopes of seeing our resident gray whales. Layer up for the weather and bring gloves, hat, sunscreen, windbreaker and water compatible shoes. Depart from Langley Marina. Space is limited to 10 people, call for reservations. $50 for members and $60 for non-members.

On May 15th, there will be demonstrations for retiring Lolita (the orca whale captured in Penn Cove in 1970 and still performing daily at the Miami Seaquarium) in about 42 locations around the world. Join other kayakers in Penn Cove to paddle to the actual scene of the capture, between the Captain Whidbey Inn and Penn Cove Shelfish dock. Canoes or small boats could also join.
Park at the DNR lot just west of the Captain Whidbey Inn and launch when the tide is coming in
