We encourage you to take a closer look at each farm that is on tour this year. There are 18 to choose from and you will want to be sure you visit those that are of the most interest to you. Some of the farms are open on Saturday ONLY, so be sure to check the map and list. Simply click on the name of the farm on the left. You can also download a copy of the Whidbey Island Farm Tour Map. and a detailed list of Participating Farms to accompany the map.

With everything from animals, vegetables, flowers and shellfish, Whidbey Island has a wonderful and diverse variety of farms, and we think you will be both pleased and surprised at the farms and activities choices.

Please give us your comments, suggestions and feedback both before and after the tour. Our participating farmers would particularly enjoy hearing from you, and there are comment boxes for each farm.

Over 25 local artists take the Goosefoot plant family as their jumping off point for creating original works of art in honor of the local non-profit organization of the same name. Coupeville - The third annual Wharf Fest returns to the historic Coupeville Waterfront on June 27 and 28. This year’s theme celebrates small boats. Kayaks, canoes, rowboats, small sailboats, model boats, and other, small craft are welcome join the festivities. The object is to assemble as many small craft as possible – in the water, or on land for display. Launching facilities are nearby, and moorage is available at the historic 1905 Coupeville Wharf, where kayak rentals are also available. At 2 o’clock, a small boat flotilla will be assembled and paraders will pass by the wharf for photo opps.

Wharf Fest is an all-free, family-fun festival, sponsored by the Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association, and features music, kids activities, hayrides, vintage boats and vehicles, and Pirates! The Island County Historical Museum will be open by donation during Wharf Fest, and will feature a special maritime exhibit.

Whidbey Island Vintners Association is pleased to present its 2nd annual Red Wine and Chocolates Event: Participating wineries are Greenbank Cellars, Holmes Harbor Cellars, and Whidbey Island Winery. Come one, come all to our first ever Barn Rally driving event on Saturday, June 26, 2010. Participants will enjoy family fun road games for cool prizes as they motor along Whidbey Island back roads to and from Coupeville. Rallies start at 9am and 2pm. Spend lunchtime on Historic Front Street for car show, merchant sales, food, music and more. Ma Liang and his Magical Brush will take participants on a wonder-filled journey of exploration and learning. Campers will learn basic vocabulary and conversation phrases, get a taste of Chinese folk songs and dance, traditional children's group games, basic Wu Bu Quan ( Five step boxing) movements, kite making, pen-brush painting and writing, the art of Chinese paper cutting, sweet rice ball making, sample famous Chinese foods, and so much more! Together, campers will create a skit to present to family and friends at the end of camp.

It claims its fame for being a 187 mile Blaine to Whidbey Island, WA relay race event that rivals on legend; a legend you'll share with 11 other running die-hards. This adventure-fest will push you and 11 pals through near 200 miles of stunning Washington scenery. Starting in Beautiful town of Blaine, your team will find themselves winding their way through the state, crossing Deception pass, and outright racing all the way into Whidbey Island, to the beautiful sea side town of Langley,WA. The race (and your stamina) wraps up with a party worthy of having run near 200 miles.

NW Wine expert Steve Hoverson, of Young's Columbia Wine Company will be talking about a variety of vintages chosen specifically to complement our fresh caught "West Beach" Dungeness Crab. "West Beach" Dungeness Crab distinguishes itself by being the sweetest and firmest of the local crab runs because of the swift current and exceptional food sources available off West Beach on Whidbey Island. The crab for this event will be caught and kept live in tanks to assure its absolute freshness and peak flavor.

George Sasso, Executive Chef at the Inn will be preparing crab during the event, so if you've ever wonder how to prepare a crab this is your chance to watch and ask questions of one of the best chefs on the island.

The Captain Whidbey Inn deck, overlooking Penn Cove, on Whidbey Island is a wonderful backdrop for this Thursday August 5th, 5 to 7pm tasting. Room on the deck is limited so please reserve your place in advance.$20 advance, $30 at the door, space permitting.

The Greenbank Farm Wine Shop and tasting room will start visitors off with a sample, then they can visit the Greenbank Cheese shop for artisan cheeses, go to the three galleries for tastes of Willis Hall wines, a different wine at each gallery. There they will find tasty nibbles, wonderful art, and live music as you stroll among the galleries and the outdoor art in the gardens. Return to the wine shop tasting room for your final Willis Hall dessert wine and enter to win the drawing to wine a basket of wines - one from each of six wineries that have participated in First Friday events at the Farm. The drawings take place twice a year, and the more First Friday's you participate in the more chances you have to win!

Whidbey Pies Café will be open for dinner that evening, and reservations are recommended. To do so call the café at 360-678-1288.
