Bridge Access to the Islands

Deception Pass Bridge
This scenic entrance to North Whidbey Island is an engineering marvel, with an amazing history. Accessed by taking the Anacortes exit off I-5 just N. of Mt. Vernon.

The Mark Clark Bridge
This bridge leads you to Camano Island, passing an amazing bird estuary along the way. Take the Camano Island/Stanwood exit #212 off Interstate 5, between Mount Vernon and Marysville. Travel west on SR 532 just 7 miles.

Ferry Access to the Islands Website

  • Whidbey is accessible by two Washington State Ferry routes. Camano Island is accessed by bridge, rather than ferry.
  • A ferry departs every 30 minutes from the Mukilteo Ferry Dock, just 24 miles north of Seattle. To catch it, follow the Mukilteo/Whidbey Island exit off I-5 (#189/Hwy 525) straight to the ferry dock. After a 20-minute ride, the ferry arrives at Clinton on south Whidbey Island, and the Mainland vanishes as you drive to your destination.
    Ferry Schedule for Clinton-Mukilteo Ferry
  • Or arrive at Whidbey Island's center. The Keystone-Port Townsend ferry route, connecting Whidbey to the Olympic Peninsula, takes 30 minutes and docks at Keystone Landing in Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve. Preserved land, soaring eagles and historic markers vie for attention along the drive to your destination.
Ferry Schedule for Keystone-Pt. Townsend Ferry
  • You may also reach Whidbey and Camano Islands by taking a ferry from the San Juan Islands to Anacortes on Fidalgo which is connected to Whidbey by the famous Deception Pass Bridge. Or after landing, drive to Camano Island via Route 20. www.camanoisland.org
  • The Pacific Northwest has another inviting secret spot known as the San Juan Islands. Accessible by the Washington State Ferry Service, the islands of Lopez, Orcas, San Juan and Shaw have been luring explorers and visitors with a natural beauty full of surprises since they were first discovered.See www.VisitSanJuans.com
