The Greater Freeland Chamber of Commerce is a partnership of business and professional people working together to build a healthy economy and improve the quality of life in Freeland and surrounding communities. Our mission statement is simple and direct: To develop a strong and growing business community.
A simple enough concept, yet a balance difficult to actually achieve. Especially in a small community, located on a rural Island.
But, Freeland is doing it. We're developing a strong and growing business community, with good paying jobs. We're an attractive, active community in which people want to live and play. We're nestled between two striking bodies of water - Holmes Harbor and Mutiny Bay - amidst the beauty of Whidbey Island. We've got fabulous beaches. You'll definitely want to visit Freeland County Park and Double Bluff Beach (with an off-leash dog beach area!).
As the retail and financial center of South Whidbey Island, Freeland's Main Street features such anchors as Ace Hardware, Lind's Pharmacy, and Payless Foods, and small businesses like the Island Tea Company, Mutiny Bay Antique Mall, Tiger Martial Arts, and La Vida Verde.
Nearly every regional bank has a Freeland branch office. There are several mortgage, real estate, escrow and title companies as well.
Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, the Island's largest private employer, has four generations of experience in manufacturing a wide variety of passenger vessels and work boats, including catamarans, car ferries, tugs, fireboats, and military landing craft.
When you're ready to relax and have fun, we've got fine dining restaurants, golf courses, and plenty of hiking and biking trails to help you stay fit.
